Base64 Encoder & Decoder

Convert text to Base64 and back with proper UTF-8 handling. Accented characters, CJK text and emoji round-trip correctly, because the input is encoded as UTF-8 bytes before being converted — not passed straight to the browser's legacy Base64 helper.

How to use

Pick a direction, paste your text, and press Encode or Decode.
Switch on the URL-safe alphabet when the value will travel in a query string or filename.
Turn off = padding when a consumer requires unpadded output.
Wrap at 76 characters produces the line-broken form used by email and PEM-style text.
Use Use output as input to verify a round trip without copying by hand.

Notes & limits

Decoding strips whitespace and newlines before parsing, so wrapped input is accepted.
A data: prefix such as data:text/plain;base64, is detected and removed automatically.
Invalid characters, a bad length or impossible padding produce an explicit error rather than a partial result.
Decoded bytes that are not valid UTF-8 are reported as such — this tool shows text, not binary.
